Parents and Professionals,

As First Light celebrates the end of our fourth year in helping children and families, my team continues to look for ways to expand our healing work to more families. Although we have successfully navigated alternate funding streams to help families afford mental health treatment, it is not enough. Outdoor behavioral health continues to be a challenging level of care to find coverage.

To increase the ability for families to access mental health services, First Light will be working with the State of Georgia to receive a residential treatment license that will enable us to bill insurance companies through residential services. First Light will continue to accept enrollments and provide the same therapeutic services until we receive our enhanced license, when we will transition to our new home. We will keep you and any new families informed. Upon transitioning to our residential model, we can work together to see if it is best for the client to continue and finish their treatment in our outdoor program, or if it is best to transition to our residential program.

Over the 30 years I have worked in the mental health field, I have fully learned the importance of building trusting relationships with my families and the professionals working with them. While there will be some changes to our programming, I feel it is important for you to know that my leadership team and I are dedicated to this transition and will remain as the quality and caring team you have come to know.

I am excited about this opportunity to meet the needs of more families, but I also understand that this will bring up many questions from you. As always please feel free to contact me directly and I will answer any questions you might have.
